QUESTION(S) OF THE DAY: What is your daily routine for maximum output? Please let me know in the comments.
First off: it is annyoing that every link on your page opens a new window. If I click around to listen to different podcasts or read comments I may have 10 windows open at the same time. Maybe change this?
Have listened to a few of the podcasts you have used as inspiration for your current diet and training regime. I particularly found Shawn Baker’s zero-carb carnivorous approach fascinating. Just goes to show that humans can be healthy on anything from vegetarian, or some-meat, high-plant diets (probably the diets with the most scientific support) to all-meat no-plant diets (less scientific support, but lots of anecdotal). I think it pretty much boils down to genetics, as mentioned in this article:
http://www.macleans.ca/society/health/eat-like-your-grandma-why-you-should-skip-the-kale-salad/
I’m primarily of Scandinavian descent, and my great-great-great-great-great-grandfather (+/- one or two “great”) was a Viking chief, so even though my training volume and low bodyfat can thrive on higher carb intakes, I generally tend to fluctuate it according to season – gravitating towards more protein and fat during winter time:

It could also just be that we generally feel best when we choose whole, unprocessed foods and listen to our intuition – if you feel great, keep doing it. If not, don’t. Even children have strong intuitions about what to eat and how much, why shouldn’t adults?

Do you still feel good on your 2 meals-per-day IF, HFLC diet? 🙂
Thank you for the feedback Børge. I use a Word Press plugin to open external links. This is primarily to make it easier for people to view the resources and links on posts and not leave the original post. However, I agree with your point. It is annoying that every single link opens a new tab. I need to figure something that isn’t all or nothing but more specific in it’s function. I shall add this as a to-do 😀
Thank you for all these sources. I shall have a read.
I do still do 2 meals per day. I’m a little more liberal about them though. I might have a banana and a 4-egg omelette and then a steak, potato and cucumber for my second meal. I just eat till full. I would say that based on my macro-nutrient ratio, I’m still consuming a HFLC diet. Whilst I believe calories matter most, HFLC seems to moderate my appetite effectively to ensure I don’t overeat. Tend to have cheat meals on Saturdays :D.
Yeah, and that’s a major advantage, for sure 🙂 I have gradually moved from 5 meals to 4 meals, now on 3 meals with a 8-10hr eating window. It seems be that more and more of the “older and wiser” crowd (Paul Carter of Lift Run Bang is another example) are moving towards a more intuitive pattern, and I would guess because after years of frequent meals, counting/measuring and forced caloric restriction/overfeeding, we get to a point where we want to structure the eating around our life and not the other way around 🙂
Børge, I’ve re-configured the links within the website so only certain links open new tabs where appropriate (such as external links and episodes on the podcast page). Let me know what you think of the new user experience and if you feel it’s improved. Also, let me know if you think there are other issues.
Great, and I think the user experience is much improved now 🙂
Awesome!
