Occasionally I get the question: “Lawrence, how is your personal training business going?!”
I’ve wanted to start a personal training business in one form or another for several years now. However, the podcast and HIT Business Membership have always taken centre stage. More recently, I’ve realised it makes a lot of sense for me to start a personal training business in terms of the benefits in documenting the journey, developing my expertise, and providing more value to you.
Fortunately, I was connected to someone locally in Galway, Ireland, who has the same desire and wants to open a facility providing a suite of services, including high intensity personal training.
The facility is not likely to open for 6-12 months. In the meantime, I have decided to start a small personal training business with a view to potentially transition clients to a studio in the future.
I cover:
- The first steps to starting a lean high intensity training business
- Software and tools to help you get certified and run your business
- How to prepare for personal training before you’re certified
- … and much, much more

This episode is brought to you by ARXFit.com, ARX are the most innovative, efficient and effective all-in-one exercise machines I have ever seen. I was really impressed with my ARX workout. The intensity and adaptive resistance were unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. I love how the machine enables you to increase the negative load to fatigue target muscles more quickly and I love how the workouts are effortlessly quantified. The software tracks maximum force output, rate of work, total amount of work done and more in front of you on-screen, allowing you to compete with your pervious performance, to give you and your clients real-time motivation.
As well as being utilised by many HIT trainers to deliver highly effective and efficient workouts to their clients, ARX comes highly recommended by world-class trainers and brands including Bulletproof, Tony Robbins, and Ben Greenfield Fitness. Good luck with the new venture. You will undoubtedly learn a lot from trying to put theory into practice.
Will you be getting liability insurance for this part time training practice?
Thanks Greg. Yes, I will be getting insurance.
I enjoyed your episode with James Fisher. I think you should try to get Chris Beardsley on and discuss the same subject. He is very knowledgable.
