Kind of an insulting interview. There is significant published research that simply and straightforwardly disproves what your guest says. His ignorance/arrogance is kind of stunning. You might want to familiarize yourself with this literature sometime; perhaps you would be surprised at how ridiculous this interview is.
To attempt to add some clarity to my initial comment and hopefully not ramble on. My primary goal or intent when I lift/strength train these days, is to attempt to improve my skill of lifting things as similar/applicable as possible, in the “real world”. Lifting things from the ground, lifting things overhead, pushing and pulling a heavy object. I have had just too many instances where my strength, outside of the gym, has been found wanting.
