Well, THIS is awkward. While I appreciate being mentioned in a professional, respectful manner, I don’t recall these conversations “on almost every exercise.” I think Luke and I first met 20 years ago? It’s possible.
I do remember the leg press conversation, after which I sent references and such, and the next time I was at a Discover Strength conference and was coached on the leg press by their staff, it was obvious that none of what I said stuck.
As far as Tim Ryan’s v. my approach, I visited Tim in his studio in Illinois and we talked directly about instruction. The only difference in our instruction was he used Medx and I use Nautilus Nitro; what we asked of the body to do in the leg press, and our joint concerns in general were in sync.
I do want to clarify that despite mentioning my name, their training does not reflect my training. I encourage stricter posture, less extreme ranges, and discourage substitution and compensation; informed by my 40 years experience and more than a few biomechanics and sports medicine books. If anyone is interested in what I have to say about training, please check my YouTube and books directly.
They, obviously, are very confident in their presentation and are certainly doing just fine the way they are.
Again, thanks for the mentions and the links.
